Pyongyang: An old video of North Korea’s fake computer lab has recently gone viral on the internet.
The footage shows journalists visiting a computer lab in North Korea where students can be seen sitting quietly in the lab.
There is no activity taking place in the lab, suggesting that an artificial environment may have been created for visitors rather than reflecting a real situation.
During the visit, one of the journalists interviewed a North Korean student who claimed to be working with European scientists on string theory, in stark contrast to North Korea’s restrictions on access to information.
The commentator in the video further explains that he then took us to a computer lab where students were using the internet but in reality it was completely silent and no one was typing. No mouse was clicking.
He added that we saw a man staring blankly at the Google home page. On the screen we saw a man who actually looked like he knew how to use a computer.
