Washington: After the suicide of Hollywood actor Robin Williams in 2014, increasing incidents of suicide among actors have been observed.
More than 1,800 additional deaths are estimated in the US during the 4-month period. Such suicides are becoming a well-known trend in Hollywood, especially after the death of a celebrity.
Although this trend can be eliminated through planned interventions, many factors remain hidden such as changes in thoughts and behavior before suicide.
The study, published in Science Advances, presents a model that examines the suicidal process as if it were an infectious disease.
Clinical psychologist Nick Allen said that although suicide is not transmitted like a virus, the model the team has developed is very convincing.
