Cairo: A collection of artifacts from Egypt’s Last Kingdom has been discovered in 63 tombs in the Nile Delta region.
An official from Egypt’s Authority for Antiquities said dozens of tombs in the Nile Delta region have uncovered artifacts from the Last Kingdom of Ancient Egypt.
Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities Spokesperson Neveen Al Maarif said the artifacts include gold pieces and jewelry from the late Egyptian and Ptolemaic periods.
He also said that some of the items could be put on display in one of the country’s museums.
The ministry last month confirmed the discovery by archaeologists of mud brick tombs in the tomb of Tel al-Dir in the city of Damietta.
