Jiang Shu: Two chefs in China have been sentenced for mixing expired ingredients and diarrhea medicine into food to nullify its effects.
Two chefs at a restaurant in Jiangsu, China, have been sentenced for mixing expired ingredients in food and mixing medicine to prevent diarrhoea.
Chongqing District’s Market Management Bureau released a statement announcing that two chefs working at a local restaurant had been sentenced to prison and fined 160,000 yuan.
Both the culprits used expired ingredients in their food and mixed it with gentamicin (an antibiotic used to treat diarrhoea) to prevent stomach upset.
According to the police investigation, the cooks sold at least 1,612 different foods with gentamicin sulfate added to them.
