Washington: Experts have predicted further increase in male cancer cases considering the life expectancy and the economic status of different countries.
The study, published in the American Cancer Society’s journal Cancer, found that men experience higher rates of cancer and cancer-related deaths than women.
The increase in the rate of cancer cases in men is likely due to various factors including less participation in cancer prevention activities including less use of screening and treatment options, cancer risk factors such as smoking, Alcohol consumption, and increased occupational exposure to carcinogens etc.
To estimate cancer rates among men of different ages and regions of the world, the investigators analyzed 2022 data from the Global Cancer Observatory, which includes national statistics of cancer cases and deaths in 185 countries/regions around the world. Level estimates are included.
