A new study recently added two new factors to the list of 14 risk factors that increase the likelihood of a dementia diagnosis.
New evidence adds vision loss and high cholesterol to the list of dementia risk factors, the scientists said in research published in The Lancet.
Professor Gil Livingston at University College London said: “Our new report shows that more can and should be done to reduce the risk of dementia by tackling risk factors.
“We now have strong evidence that longer exposures to risk have a greater effect and that these risks act more strongly in people who are vulnerable,” he added.
That’s why it’s important that we redouble prevention efforts for those who need them most.
