New York: A collection of 20,000 rare coins belonging to a Danish citizen who died 100 years ago is being offered for auction this year, which could fetch up to £60 million.

According to media reports, Lars Emil Brunn, who died a century ago, used to do dairy business. Before he died, he said in his will that the 20,000 coins he had collected in his lifetime would be kept for 100 years, after which they would be sold.

Now, more than a century later, New York-based auction house Stackbowers has announced that it will be auctioned this fall.

The auction house said it is the most valuable collection of world coins ever to hit the market. In the 1800s, Lars Emil Braun started a large dairy business that made him a fortune.

He also indulged his hobby of collecting coins, medals and banknotes from Denmark, Norway and Sweden.
