The aim of the strike on behalf of Kashmiris was to protest against India’s illegal occupation of the region and the implementation of Hindutva agenda and to emphasize the demand for resolution of the Kashmir conflict.

On the other hand, on the occasion of Narendra Modi’s visit to Srinagar, the Indian government imposed strict restrictions for security in the Kashmir Valley, the occupying Indian forces had set up checkpoints in places where people were being searched.

Additional personnel of Indian forces were deployed around Srinagar, the capital of Occupied Kashmir and its adjacent areas, especially around Bakshi Stadium, the venue of Narendra Modi’s rally.

The movement of people was being monitored by the Indian occupying forces through drones and CCTV cameras, and personnel of Indian agencies in plain clothes and expert marksmen were deployed on tall buildings near the stadium. The stadium was cordoned off by the Special Protection Group of the Indian forces.

According to the report, more than 700 youths were arrested during raids by the Indian army and police in Srinagar and other districts of Occupied Kashmir Valley and the youths were summoned to the police stations.
