Bristol: Have you ever wondered why blue fruits are so rare? What is even more surprising is that the fruits that appear blue to us are not actually blue, so why do these blueberries look blue?

According to media reports, scientists from the University of Bristol in the United Kingdom investigated dark-colored fruits that have a very thin layer of wax on them, such as blueberries, blue corn, and juniper berries.

In their research, scientists found that a complex natural mechanism is actually responsible for the apparent color of these fruits. Blueberries appear blue even though they contain red pigment, the researchers said.

This is because of the wax layer on top of them, which contains tiny particles that scatter blue and ultraviolet light. This is why blueberries appear blue to the human eye.

Rox Middleton, a researcher at Bristol’s School of Biological Sciences, said in reference to the research that this is the reason why the blue color of blueberries cannot be separated by squeezing. Because it contains blue pigment, it does not exist. It only looks like that in appearance, in reality there is red color.
