Jersey: James Bond’s message in a bottle was found 58 years later during restoration work at a castle in Jersey, a region between France and Great Britain.

Restoration body Jersey Heritage said in a social media post that workers in the officers’ quarters on the first floor of Elizabeth Castle opened a locked fireplace where they found the hidden message in a bottle.

The bottle was inscribed on February 26, 1966 as ‘007 James Bond. 26 February 1966. Secret Agent. Don’t Tell Any Buddy’ was listed.

The other side of the patch bore the name ‘EA Blampied’, possibly a reference to Edmund Blampied, a Jersey artist who died in August 1966.

The note was written about two months after the release of the James Bond series film Thunderball starring Sean Connery as James Bond.

Also found in the bottle were pages (pages 15 to 18) of the February 23, 1966 edition of the weekly newspaper Revel.
