Newtown Harbour: A professional bird photographer in England has captured a unique never-before-seen photo of an eagle and a gray seal interacting.

According to media reports, researchers from the University of Portsmouth in the UK have published a study detailing the unique interaction between the two animals, which was observed by ornithologist Claire Jacobs from Newtown Harbour.

Claire took this photo on the British Isle of Wight, where a seal emerged from the surface of the water and shot a stream of water from its mouth at a soaring eagle to drive it away.

Claire watched as the white-tailed eagle swooped to the surface of the water, but at the same time a mature cell emerged from the water beneath the eagle and shot a stream of water from its mouth that hit the eagle directly.

“I’m always excited to photograph eagles, but capturing such a rare and never-before-seen sight on camera was a wonderful first experience,” Claire said.
