World War II bomb recovered from under-construction college

Florida: A construction company crew working on a college campus under construction near a Florida airport has discovered a defunct World War II bomb.

According to the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office, crews were working at Wilton-Sampson Technical College under construction in Brooksville when they found the bomb buried in the ground.

Taking precautionary measures, the Sheriff’s Office evacuated an area approximately one kilometer in diameter and closed nearby roads.

According to explosives experts, this dilapidated Mark 65 World War II bomb weighing 453 kg was inert.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the bomb will be defused by personnel from MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa.
