The European Union has approved new sanctions against Russia, the thirteenth since it launched a war against Ukraine.
According to the report of the Arab media, the members of the European Union have approved the 13th package of sanctions against Russia, under which sanctions have been imposed on 200 more organizations and individuals involved in the two-year-long Russia-Ukraine war. These individuals and organizations are related to defense and military sectors and war propaganda.
The representatives of the countries included in the European Union signed the draft of new sanctions against Russia in Brussels.
Once the sanctions are approved, European companies will not be able to sell equipment and technologies to these 200 entities and individuals and companies with links to them.
The formal approval of the new sanctions will be given at the meeting of the European Union on February 24, remember that February 24 is the date when Russia invaded Ukraine.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has welcomed the approval of new sanctions against Russia.
According to Europe’s foreign policy chief Josep Borrell, the number of institutions and individuals on the list has reached 2,000 after the new sanctions were approved.
Europe has also recently targeted companies based in China, Uzbekistan, Iran and the United Arab Emirates for allegedly violating European sanctions.
European sources told Reuters that the focus of the sanctions is on entities and individuals linked to the Russian military-industrial complex, in addition to sanctions against those involved in the abduction of Ukrainian children.
According to sources, the new sanctions list also includes three Chinese firms, and one each from North Korea and Belarus.
