California: A new study has revealed that women who exercise regularly have better heart health than men.

According to media reports, in a study published in the ‘Journal of the American College of Cardiology’, American researchers examined a group of 400,000 men and women over a period of two decades.

They found that women who exercised regularly were 24 percent less likely to die early and had a 36 percent lower risk of fatal heart attack, stroke, or heart disease than other women.

On the other hand, men who exercised regularly were 15 percent less likely to die early and 14 percent less likely to have fatal heart disease.

Heart disease is the leading cause of death for women in the United States and can affect women of any age, said Dr. Raj Dasgupta, clinical associate professor at the University of Southern California. It is responsible for the death of one in five women. Research has revealed that nearly half of American women are unaware that heart disease is their biggest ‘killer’.
