Pakistan to find immediate legal solutions to election disputes and problems; United Nations

Washington: United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres has urged the authorities and political leaders in Pakistan to resolve the post-election situation as soon as possible through peaceful and legal means.

According to the World News Agency, during a press briefing at the United Nations Headquarters, Stephen Dujarric, the spokesperson of Secretary General Antonio Guterres, answered the questions regarding the allegations of rigging and freedom of expression after the general election in Pakistan.

Spokesman Stephane Dujarric said UN chief Antonio Guterres urged the authorities to refrain from any actions that could escalate or inflame tensions in the post-election situation in Pakistan.

The spokesperson said that Secretary General Antonio Guterres is closely monitoring the situation in Pakistan and has appealed to political parties including the authorities to remain calm and reject violence.

The spokesperson added that the Secretary General of the United Nations wants to resolve election disputes and issues through an established legal framework that is in the interest of the people of Pakistan while emphasizing full respect for human rights and the rule of law.

It should be remembered that earlier in his statement, the Secretary General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, expressed his concern over the suspension of mobile, net service and violent incidents during the election in Pakistan.
