New Delhi: In the Indian state of Uttarakhand, a ‘Civil Code’ has been approved on the last day, which makes the laws of family courts of all religions the same, on which Muslims have protested and demonstrated strongly across the country today.

According to the World News Agency, the “Civil Code 2024” approved by the state assembly of Uttarakhand abolishes the religious interpretation of family laws such as marriage, divorce, maintenance, inheritance, adoption and succession in the Indian Constitution.

Apart from the Amir of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Hind, the popular Muslim leader Asaduddin Owaisi and the Muslim members of the assembly strongly condemned this bill and called for protest.

On which a large number of citizens protested at many places across the country today, in which they shouted slogans against this black law of the Modi government, while the speakers demanded the immediate withdrawal of the bill.

After public pressure and protests, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami dismissed the perception that the bill was in conflict with Sharia law, saying that the Uniform Civil Code gives equal rights to all without discrimination.

It should be noted that after the approval of this law, matters like marriage, divorce, inheritance, property, non-maintenance, adoption and death will be settled under the same law for all religions.

Earlier, cases related to these matters were decided keeping in mind the religion of the petitioners. Muslims may face the most confusion in this.

Experts say that due to this law, the number of marriages and other issues will also be subject to this law instead of religion and BJP has taken this step to support Hindu voters before the elections.

It may be recalled that the state of Uttarakhand became the first state in the country to implement a uniform civil code after independence from Britain after passing this bill, which is also a decades-old promise of the BJP.
