The Hague: The hearing on the Israeli occupation of Palestine since 1967 has started in the United Nations International Court of Justice.

According to the World News Agency, on the instructions of the United Nations General Assembly, the International Court of Justice has started a hearing to find out the legal consequences of Israel’s occupation of the West Bank, Gaza and East Jerusalem.

During this week-long hearing, 52 countries and three organizations will present evidence, arguments, positions related to Israel’s occupation of Palestine in the International Court of Justice and will be cross-examined.

It should be remembered that this time the International Court of Justice is holding a hearing against Israel’s occupation of Palestine on the instructions of the United Nations, while a hearing was held on human rights violations and war crimes in Gaza last month at the request of South Africa.

Today’s hearing began with a speech by Palestinian Authority Foreign Minister Riyad al-Maliki. He called it an honor and a heavy responsibility to represent the oppressed and subjugated Palestinians in this historic event.

Riaz al-Maliki said that I stand before you to deliver justice to the 2.3 million Palestinians killed, disabled, hungry and homeless in the besieged and indiscriminate bombing of Gaza.

Riyad al-Maliki, the foreign minister of the Palestinian Authority, has further said that more than 3.5 million Palestinians in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, are also being subjected to violence by colonialist and racist Israel.

The foreign minister said Israel is treating the seven million Palestinians in their homeland as second-class citizens and preventing them from returning to their homes.

Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad al-Maliki placed 5 different maps before the court and presented solid evidence against the establishment of an independent and independent state of Palestine, Israel’s illegal occupation and aggression.

After which experts, various legal experts and archeologists also presented their arguments before the court, after which the hearing will be repeated tomorrow.

It should be noted that in December 2022, the United Nations General Assembly asked the International Court of Justice for a non-binding “advisory opinion” on “the legal consequences arising from Israel’s policies and practices in the occupied Palestinian territory, including East Jerusalem.”

The United Nations had directed that the court should first examine the legal consequences of Israel’s continued violation of the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination, which has been linked to the long occupation of the occupied Palestinian territories since 1967.

Second, the United Nations also directed the International Court of Justice to conduct a legal review of Israel’s discriminatory legislation and actions against the Palestinians.

On the instructions of the United Nations, the International Court of Justice will give a decision on this matter immediately and at the latest by the end of this year.
